Different Types of Anesthesia Equipment and Products Used by Anesthesiologist Prior Surgery

An anesthesiologist is a person who is responsible for taking care of a patient before, during, and after surgery. They are specialists in taking control of both acute and chronic pain. Anesthesia makes you unconscious to avoid pain during surgery. There are different types of Anesthesia, depending upon the surgery, the type of anesthesia is decided.

In General Anaesthesia, the patient is asleep, the body is temporally paralyzed.

After that, there is Regional Anesthesia in which one large part of the body is numbed, and finally, Local Anesthesia, in which a small part of the body is numbed. Different types of anesthetics and drugs help an Anesthesiologist fulfill his assigned role. GWS is a boon to Anesthesiologists, One of the largest manufacturers of it. It consists of a large range of anesthesia products manufactured every day in the GWS manufacturing lot. GWS has been an anesthesia product manufacturer for almost 4 decades. Serving the healthcare facilities and anthologists for such a long time. Some of the very important anesthesia equipment is mentioned below.

  1. Breathing System: It is also called Breathing Circuit. Its primary job is to deliver oxygen to the patients and eliminate carbon dioxide. It is an assembly of components that connect the patient's airway to the anesthesia machine creating an artificial atmosphere. It is termed a lightweight convenient device that helps in controlled ventilation.
  • Artificial Resuscitators: The Ambu bag generically called a manual resuscitator or "self-inflating bag", is a hand-held device commonly used to provide positive pressure ventilation to patients who are not breathing or not breathing adequately.
  • Oxygen Masks: Also known as Nassal Cannulas, they are used for delivering oxygen to people who don't otherwise get enough of it. Masks ensure a personal flow of oxygen.
  • Laryngoscope: Laryngoscope is used for undergoing Laryngoscopy - performed to facilitate tracheal intubation during general cardiopulmonary resuscitation or for surgical procedures on the larynx or other parts of the upper tracheobronchial tree.
  • Guedel Airways: Made up of plastic, metal, or rubber. Guedel Airways lies between the base of the tongue and the pharyngeal wall. It helps in maintaining or opening the patient's airways. The airway prevents the tongue from (either partially or completely) obstructing. Also called Oropharyngeal airways. It comes in a variety of sizes, from infant to adult. Oropharyngeal airways are usually indicated for unconscious patients because there is a high probability that the device would stimulate a conscious or semi-conscious patient's gag reflex.
  • Magill Forceps: It is termed as a right-handed instrument angled in two plains. Used in laryngoscopy. Its most common application is to maneuver the ET tube in nasal intubations. The Magill forceps are used to pick up the ET tube in the posterior oropharynx and place its tip into the laryngeal inlet. The Magill forceps can also be useful in clearing foreign bodies from the upper airway in anesthetized or unconscious patients. Another use is placing and removing throat packs.
